About 250 words per page, but it depends on many variables. The number of pages? Publishing goes by the number of words. Adult averages about 80,000 and Young Adult can be as low as 50,000. The number of words will depend on the genre; sci-fi and fantasy usually has a higher word count.
@ ExPubCon, I reckon she’s asking for the purposes of writing a novel, not having books in black and white. Most people here aren’t trying to pay to have books bound and in black and white….
If the first poster is asking because she’s currently writing a novel, then my info is right; this comes from months of researching the publishing industry. Publishers go by word count, not page number, and the number of words per page varies depending on book and font size. Writers usually don’t interest themselves with words per pages, though.
