What is a good site to compare printing costs (eg, cost per page) for various printers?

Question by Don P: What is a excellent site to compare printing costs (eg, cost per page) for various printers?
The real cost of a printer isn’t just what you pay in the store. If one costs a lot more per page to photograph than another, that has to be factored in.

I have seen web pages, reviews etc. that do compare real printing cost per page, but can’t seem to find one right now – now that I”m buying a new printer and really need one.

Do you have any suggestions? Have any web pages or other information sources helped you? Thanks…

Kodak makes some awe-inspiring printers. They are around 100 bucks at walmart, but the ink only costs like 10 bucks to replace. Now take a HP or Lexmark printer which might cost 60 bucks and the replacement inks cost around 30-40. Do the math and go buy yourself a Kodak printer and thank me later.

Inkjet Printers vs. Laser Printers

Inkjet Printers vs. Laser Printers

For the most part, choosing a printer can be a daunting task and entails balancing price, speed, and photograph quality. In order to choose the right printer for you, you will have to question yourself how much you photograph per month, what types of documents you will need to photograph, what quality photograph you require, whether or not you need affect, and if you care more about the initial cost or cost over the printer’s time. The difference between inkjet printers and laser printers is day and night, but once you know their differences and choose which type is most suitable for your needs, you are more than half-way to finding the right printer for you.

As a rule of thumb, laser printers produce crisp, speedy text documents and decent images, while inkjet printers produce top-quality, long-lasting photos and not-so-crisp text, all at an uncomfortably-slow pace.

Inkjet printers are best if printing high-quality photos are much more vital that high-quality text and graphics and if speed is not an issue for you. Their major selling point is their superior affect accuracy and photograph resolution for vivid photos, so this does add time to printing each page. They are also best if you have light printing needs and are more concerned with the cost upfront since replacing the ink cartridges can get pricey if you start to photograph a lot, but you can often find a excellent inkjet printer for under 0 or 0.

Laser printers are best if high-quality text documents are more vital than high-resolution photos and that speed is essential. Laser printers major selling point is their ability to quickly photograph crisp documents at a very low cost per page. Affect laser printers major selling point is their ability to photograph documents with a mix of text, graphics and photos at a quick speed, but they do run a bit more expensive because they can “do it all.” Overall, laser printers and affect laser printers cost much less to maintain and operate and have a lower cost over the printer’s time, but have a higher price-tag initially.

It’s worth explaining in detail the huge difference in the cost of ownership of the two types of printers. An inkjet printer costs a lot less initially but its cost per page is much higher than a laser printer’s cost per page. In fact, companies practically give away inkjet printers because the profit for most manufacturers is in the ink cartridges, or consumables as they call them. On the other hand, a laser printer costs a lot more initially, but over time its toner will cost much less per page. For example, let’s say you photograph 5000 pages in two months. You would have to replace the inkjet’s ink cartridges about 25 times compared with the two times you would have to replace the laser printer’s toner cartridge. The cost of the inkjet ink cartridges would nearly double the cost of the laser toner cartridges. If you photograph a couple hundred pages per month or a thousand pages per month, laser printers are more cost effective overall.

Conclusively, if your business’ output volume is moderate to heavy, your best bet is to go with a laser printer due to the laser printer’s total cost of ownership. If you photograph very infrequently, whether it’s for personal use or for your small office, then an inkjet printer would be more cost effective. At the end of the day, the types of documents you need to photograph may determine what printer, or printers, you brilliant. If you’re printing mainly photos and documents for personal use, such as directions in which you don’t care about the quality, then you should get an inkjet printer. If you photograph a lot of text documents and are cost conscience, then a budget monochrome laser printer would be your best fit. Finally, if you photograph a moderate volume of text, graphics, and mixed documents, then a affect laser printer would certainly best suit your needs and would be a excellent investment.

HP printers are fantastic in both the inkjet printers and laser printers categories. Epson printers, Canon printers, and Kodak printers are very well loved for inkjet and photo printers. Brother printers, Xerox printers, HP printers and Samsung printers are best in class for laser printers with Xerox probably the best in class for affect laser printers for businesses. So figure out your printing needs and do your research and you will find the right printer for your needs at the right price.

In the affect laser printer segment, HP affect laser printers seem to delight in a monopoly of sorts when it comes to their range of low cost per page printers. Here is a rundown of the best low cost laser affect printers from HP.

HP Affect LaserJet 3600

The photograph speed of HP Affect Laserjet 3600 printer is excellent at 17 ppm. But, what makes these affect laser printers stand out is in their cost per page. Compared to most conventional one-pass printers in the laser printer segment, this one is the lowest in cost per page. It works out to only a cent in cost in the black affect prints. But, in the affect segment, the cpp is around 9 cents. In the realm of office-oriented printers in the inkjet niche, this cpp is quite competitive. The price of this printer ranges between 465 to 562 USD.

HP Affect LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP

With an Ethernet and USB tie facility and a cost per page of just 3.2 cents for monochrome prints, it provides excellent value for money. The cost per page for affect prints with this printer is around 16.9 cents, which may seem a small expensive but it is still very competitive.

HP Affect LaserJet CP2025dn

These affect laser printers from HP are quick in photograph speeds and affordable at the same time. Compared to other HP affect laser printers this one has the highest CPP at 5 cents for black prints and 22 cents when printing in affect. This is because the cost of its printer ink cartridges is very high and hence replacement of the printer is a more viable option than changing printer ink cartridges once they are empty. The presence of technology called Instant-On Fusing as well as a network port help make this printer useful for small businesses effective in groups.

HP Affect LaserJet 1500L

The price of these affect laser printers is around 149 to 199 USD. Most inkjet printers cost between 25 and 50 cents when there is a mix of graphics and text. But, in this affect laser printer, there is a yield of 5000 pages for black printing and 4000 pages for affect prints. Black printing price is around 83 USD and affect variants around 100 USD. Thus, the cost per page of this printer works to about 1.6 cents for black prints and 2.5 cents for affect pages.

The Best Reviews Of Digital Photo Printers Are Now Available For You Too!

The Best Reviews Of Digital Photo Printers Are Now Available For You Too!

Printers are devices that exchange computer output into in black and white images. Serial printers photograph one character at a time moving across the paper. Electro sensitive, direct thermal, older daisy wheel, and even ink jet printers could be cataloged in this group; but, the fundamental desktop serial printer is the serial dot matrix printer, with speeds ranging from 200 to 400 cps, which is about 90 to 180 lines per minute.

Line printers photograph a line at a time from approximately 400 to 2,000 lpm and are commonly found in datacenters and industrial environments. Earlier technologies included drum, chain, train and dot band matrix technologies. The surviving technologies use band and line matrix mechanisms, and there are a lot of reviews of digital photo printers out there.

Digital Printers

Page printers photograph a page at a time from four to more than 800 ppm. Laser, LED, solid ink and electron beam imaging printers fall into this category. All of these printers adhere to toner or ink onto a drum which is transferred to the entire page in one cycle for black and white and multiple cycles for affect. You can find this information in nearly all reviews of digital photo printers. Impact printers were developed for the first early computers which were well loved a few decades back.

Dot band matrix printers used a combination of band printer and dot matrix methods. Electron Beam Imaging is a technology somewhat similar to a laser printer, except that electricity is used to make the image instead of light. This evolved from ion deposition and is used in very high-speed page printers exceeding 800 ppm, which at reviews of digital photo printers could not bee seen. Laser printers have had a lot going for them lately. The prices are falling, they are cheaper for volume printing and the text prints are always better than any Inkjet printer you can ever buy.

Our conclusion on printers

Laser printers are also incredibly quicker than most of the Inkjet printers, and if you are doing continuous printouts, they will simply floor you with the speed, as many reviews of digital photo printers say. There are quite a few things that you must consider before buying a Laser printer. The first and foremost thing that you need to reckon about and that is covered in most reviews of digital photo printers is whether you want a affect laser or a mono laser. Laser printers can’t photograph on thick photo quality paper, so if you want to photograph really high quality photos you should stick to Inkjet printers.
